Reception - Roam With Purpose
The bit about us
x+why launched in 2019 with a simple belief: business should be a force for good. We're proud to be a Certified B Corp, creating hospitality-led spaces that put people and planet alongside profit.
Today, we operate 17 coworking spaces, event venues and members' clubs across London, Birmingham, Manchester and Milton Keynes, supporting a vibrant community of 5,000+ members – with more launches on the horizon!
The bit about the role
Full transparency, this probably isn't the job for you if…
You want to sit behind a desk all day.
You prefer every day to look exactly the same.
You'd rather not spend your day talking to people.
Still with us? Great!
We're looking for a Roaming Community Associate to join our London team.
At its core, this is a reception role, but we call this position Community Associate for a reason. Yes, you'll be the friendly face welcoming members and guests, but the heart of the role is about building relationships, making connections and creating a genuine sense of community.
And the roaming bit? That's what makes this role a little more interesting!
Rather than being based at one location, you'll have the opportunity to get to know all of our London portfolio, its teams and members. Whether you're covering holidays or sickness, supporting a particularly busy move-in or helping deliver a large event, you'll be the extra pair of hands that helps everything run smoothly.
Primarily based on reception, you'll welcome members and visitors, respond to enquiries, book meeting rooms, order supplies, support community events and generally help keep things ticking along nicely.
The bit about you
As the first point of contact for our members and guests, you set the tone wherever you go. You instinctively understand what exceptional service looks like and deliver it with warmth, confidence and consistency, even when you're stepping into a new space at short notice.
You're naturally friendly, engaging and genuinely enjoy getting to know people. You also bring a sense of calm when things get busy, taking pride in making sure everyone feels looked after.
You'll be someone who:
Loves variety and enjoys the buzz of meeting different teams and members.
Is adaptable, organised and able to quickly find their feet in a new environment.
Has a warm, positive attitude and a genuine passion for people and hospitality.
Is proactive, happy to use their initiative and always willing to muck in.
Remains patient, composed and kind, even on the busiest of days.
Ideally, you'll have experience in a front-of-house role within a premium hospitality, reception or coworking environment. But above all, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, a genuine interest in people and the confidence to move between different spaces and teams.
A few practical bits
Location: Across our London portfolio
Hours: Monday to Friday
Shifts: Rotating between 8am–5pm and 9am–6pm
Why x+why?
We want people to enjoy coming to work. Even on Mondays.
In return, you'll get to work across some beautifully designed spaces with stunning interiors, great coffee, lots of plants and genuinely supportive (and social!) teams who care about creating exceptional experiences for members, while still having fun along the way!
And because this is a roaming role, you'll get to experience different spaces, work alongside lots of lovely humans and gain a real understanding of how our wider business operates.
We're growing, and for someone curious, proactive and keen to learn, there are genuine opportunities to develop and progress along the way.
We welcome people from all walks of life, believing the best teams are shaped by different stories, experiences and perspectives. And if there's anything we can do to make the application or interview process work better for you, just let us know.
