Our story so far ...
Company founded
x+why was founded by friends Rupert Dean, Phil Nevin, and Tanya Donald, all passionate about supporting businesses who want to be a force for good.
First site
Opened our first site, People’s Mission Hall, Whitechapel in March and welcomed B Lab UK and London Interdisciplinary School as our founding clients.
Second site
Just before COVID closed everything down, we launched our second site, Huguenot Place in Spitalfields.
Third Site
Opened The Fulwood, Holborn in March, home to B Corporations Birdie Care, Toast, and Don’t Cry Wolf.
B Corp
Certified as a B Corporation with a score of 98.3.
Fourth site
Opened Chiswick Works, Chiswick, and signed the Better Business Act Declaration.
Top 100 companies
Listed in Escape the City’s Top 100 companies to escape to (no.51).
Open in Birmingham
Opened our first space in Birmingham, Foundry and welcomed Florence and Too Good to Go as founding members.
Mission Lit book launch
Launched our very own book on putting purpose at the heart of your business, Mission Lit.
Second Birmingham site
Opened our second Birmingham space, 103 Colmore Row, at 90% full.
First clubspace
Opened the doors at eighteen, our first ever Clubspace, on the eighteenth floor of 103 Colmore Row.
Open in Manchester
Opened our first space in Manchester, 100 Embankment with founding members B Lab and The Better Business Network.
Launch of One Great Cumberland Place
Our premium London workspace opposite the landmark Marble Arch.
Launch of The Orchard
Our first London clubspace opened opposite Marble Arch and overlooking Hyde Park.
Launch of Fivefields
A new charity hub workspace opened in the heart of Westminster.

The x+why team gathered at Arding & Hobbs, where we enjoyed a range of wellbeing workshops, heard from inspiring presenters and ended the day appreciating the views of London's skyline from the stunning roof terrace.
NSPCC Charity walk
With determination (and stamina!), several team members walked over 30k around London to raise money for the NSPCC.
