Senior Facilities Manager - Leading Workspace Brand
The bit about us
x+why launched in 2019 with a simple belief: business should be a force for good. We’re proud to be a Certified B Corp, creating hospitality-led spaces that put people and planet alongside profit.
Today we operate 16 coworking, event, and members’ clubspaces across London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Milton Keynes, supporting a vibrant community of 5,000+ members - with more launches on the horizon!
The bit about the role
We’re looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to join us on a part time, 12-month fixed-term contract, ideally starting mid-September. We envisage this role being 3 days per week, though we are open to how those hours are structured. Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer and leading our Operations Coordinator and Maintenance Technician, you’ll oversee the facilities management of our national portfolio.
This is a varied, hands-on role spanning planned and reactive maintenance, cleaning, security, waste, statutory compliance and operational budgets. Working closely with our Senior Community Managers, landlords, managing agents and contractors, you’ll ensure every location is safe, compliant and running smoothly.
You’ll also manage supplier performance, oversee access control and CCTV, and work with our technology partners to keep our wider infrastructure reliable. Throughout, you’ll look for practical ways to improve service, efficiency and value across the portfolio.
Our spaces
From characterful Georgian townhouses to modern purpose built offices, our portfolio includes a wide variety of buildings, each with it's own operational needs and challenges.
Our spaces bring together private offices, coworking, meeting rooms, event venues and hospitality offerings, so no two days (or locations) are quite the same. You’ll need to understand the character and requirements of each building, balancing the practicalities of maintaining older properties with the demands of busy, modern site.
The bit about you
As an experienced Facilities Manager with a strong operational mindset and a practical, proactive approach, you will be used to managing facilities across multiple locations, ideally within the flexible workspace, hospitality or commercial property sector.
You’ll bring a strong understanding of UK building compliance and Health & Safety requirements, as well as experience managing maintenance programmes, contractors, suppliers and budgets. Organised, commercially aware and calm under pressure, you are confident balancing competing priorities without losing sight of the details, or the high standards our members expect.
Most importantly, you enjoy working in a collaborative, solutions-focused environment and genuinely care about creating safe, welcoming and well-run spaces for the people who use them.
IOSH Managing Safely, or an equivalent qualification, would be desirable. IWFM or NEBOSH qualifications would be a bonus, but are not essential
