Community Associate - Manchester's Newest Workspace
The bit about us
x+why launched in 2019 with a simple belief: business should be a force for good. We’re proud to be a Certified B Corp, creating hospitality-led spaces that put people and planet alongside profit.
Today we operate 15 coworking, event, and members’ clubspaces across London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Milton Keynes, supporting a vibrant community of 5,000+ members - with more launches on the horizon!
The bit about the role
Full transparency, this probably isn’t the job for you if…
· you want to sit behind a desk all day.
· you prefer every day to look the same.
· you like to stay in the background.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be trusted to spot opportunities, solve problems, and make things happen. Although predominantly based on our front desk, you will be free to roam and proactively assist across the site as needed.
You will respond to email enquiries from members, coordinate member engagement events, manage stock/supplies, log any maintenance issues, set up equipment and furniture for events, and ensure all AV/tech across the site is functioning as it should be.
The space
The Hive is in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and our space reflects the character and creativity the neighbourhood is known for. Warm timber interiors, soft pink hues and thoughtfully reused materials create a stylish, welcoming environment, with artwork from local creatives displayed throughout the building.
At the centre of the space is a lively ground-floor arcade with a bar and deli, bringing a real sense of energy to the building and offering our members and guests a place to connect and recharge.
The bit about you
As the first person our members engage with, you will understand what exceptional service looks like, and how to achieve that. Your friendly and enthusiastic nature is infectious, and everyone who interacts with you walks away a little happier.
You enjoy being kept on your toes and love being the members "go to" person! You approach problems with confidence, will jump in if a meeting room needs reset and will relish the opportunity to create interesting member events.
You enjoy the buzz of a varied role that keeps you on your toes, and want to work for a company that will put your exceptional people skills to full use.
Ideally you will have experience working in a front of house position for a premium hospitality brand or have worked for another co-working provider.
Why x+why?
We want people to enjoy coming to work. Even on Mondays.
In return, you’ll get to work in beautifully designed spaces with great coffee, lots of plants, and a genuinely supportive (and social!) team who care about creating brilliant experiences for members, while still having fun along the way!!
Joining us means becoming part of a growing business at an exciting stage of its journey. You'll gain exposure to every aspect of running a thriving coworking community, from member experience and events to operations and commercial activity. For someone who is curious, proactive, and eager to learn, this role offers genuine opportunities to grow and progress as we continue to expand.
What next?
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences and believe diverse perspectives make our community stronger.
One small ask: while AI has its place, we’d love your cover letter to sound like you. Keep it short, honest, and in your own voice and in return, we promise every application will be reviewed by a real person.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK, unfortunately we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
